DataSpaceR

As an alternative to the export feature in the Grid, we’ve created an R package that simplifies access to the DataSpace database. DataSpaceR is a custom version of the Rlabkey API that allows users to programmatically access specified datasets using R, a programming language for statistical computing and graphics. The DataSpaceR package is open source and can be downloaded and installed locally. DataSpaceR is coming soon! Watch for our upcoming blog and tutorial with… Read more

VISC invites HIV vaccine networks to join the DataSpace

The long-term goal for the DataSpace is to encompass research conducted across multiple HIV vaccine networks. As an initial step, we are reaching out to HIV vaccine networks for help in identifying members of their networks who would benefit the most from the DataSpace, specifically investigators, junior investigators, staff scientists, and post docs involved in concept development, study design, and ancillary studies. We will be providing individual accounts for… Read more

What's new in the DataSpace - November 2016

We've been adding a lot more information to the study pages - information we think helps tell the story about the studies like protocol documents, publications, grant profiles (courtesy of the CAVD portal), and reports. We added a new section to the study page so you can easily find relationships between studies like this example for studies related to RV305. Read more

What's new in the DataSpace - September 2016

Looking for a study you just heard about, but don't know the study number? Now it's even easier to find the studies and data you're looking for. You can now search, sort, and filter the list of studies in Learn About by different study characteristics like PI, study type, species, products, and whether data is available in DataSpace. We even added a new category to indicate vaccine strategy to help your search. . The Vaccine Strategy category defined for used in DataSpace… Read more

What's new in the DataSpace - May 2016

When plotting assay data over time (e.g. by study days, weeks, or months), you have the option of plotting time as a continuous or categorical variable. Plotting time as a continuous variable shows a simple, clean distribution of data over time, whereas, plotting time as a categorical variable results in individual boxplots for each visit in Plot, which can make it easier to compare responses between visits. Now you'll see the study timeline (the icons showing the timing… Read more

We're looking for collaborators

We anticipate that one of the primary ways people will use the DataSpace is to identify and export data for use in other analysis tools. We know that once you've identified data of interest, and maybe taken a quick look at the data in Plot, you'll probably want to export that data to take a closer look or do a more sophisticated analysis. We want to make that process of getting data into your own analysis tools as efficient and user friendly as possible. The DataSpace team is… Read more

What's new in the DataSpace - February 2016

When you're plotting assay data over time, the red icons below the plot show you all the study visits, including at which time points vaccinations and challenges were given for each of the treatment groups. Now, you can quickly see which time points have data in your plot (the time points with data are a darker red). You can even click on the icons at the bottom of your plot to select and filter the groups and time points you want. You asked for 'em, you got 'em. We added over 160… Read more
